最近のSelfServiceWorld.comに世界中の流通小売店舗におけるセルフレジの利用率が伸び続けているというレポートが掲載されました。
コンサルティング会社RBRの調査結果によると世界各地でセルフレジ技術の活用が進んでおり、特に小型タイプがアジア太平洋で人気を高めています。中南米や中東でも流通小売業でのセルフレジ技術の活用が進んでいます。このセルフレジの導入は拡大が見込まれ、2018年には出荷台数は60,000台に及ぶ勢いです。
セルフレジ技術はこれまで北米で最も導入が進んでおり、2012年にNCRがセルフレジや通常のPOSレジの利用者に対して行った調査には消費者からの根強い人気が表れています。
78％のセルフレジ利用者、60％のPOSレジ使用者がセルフレジを使う理由として通常のレジよりスピードが速いことを挙げています。
北米では64％のセルフレジ利用者と44％の通常レジ利用者両方がセルフレジを設置しているお店の方がサービスが良いと回答しており、チェックアウト方法の選択肢を提供することがサービスの差別化と直結していることがうかがえます。
両グループともセルフレジが使える場所が増えるのを望んでおり、セルフレジ利用者の70％が量販店、ドラッグストアへの設置を望んでおり、次にホームセンター61％、コンビニ50％、百貨店43％と続きます。
通常レジ利用者でも50％がセルフレジの量販店、ホームセンターへの普及をのぞんでいます。
この調査は独立研究機関により北米の東北及び中西部にある食料品店で1月から5月に行われたもので、中でも400件の回答は買い物直後に得られました。この中でセルフレジと通常レジの利用率は半々です。
