日本NCR株式会社（本社：東京都中央区、代表取締役社長兼CEO：諸星俊男、以下日本NCR）は本日、ウェブベースのプラットフォームを採用した次世代店舗ソリューション「NCR RES MeX（アールイーエス エムイーエックス）」を発表しました。MeXには、M=Mobility（機動性）/ Multi-Device（多様な端末）/ Multi-Function（多機能）、eX=Experience（体験）という意味が含まれています。
消費者とのあらゆる接点を結びつけるオムニチャネルに対応する店舗システムが求められています。そのニーズに対応したRES MeXは、さまざまなショッピングのシーンで、POSのチェックアウト操作のみならず、顧客システム、在庫管理システムなどの複数のアプリケーションとシームレスに連携し、消費者のショッピングエクスペリエンスを高めます。
また、ウェブベースのプラットフォームを採用したことで、POS業務のみならず、従来PC端末で行っていた顧客管理、データ分析や商品管理などのバックオフィス業務も含め、店舗スタッフは普段使い慣れているタブレット端末の操作感覚でRES MeXを使用して接客を行うことができます。このインターフェース設計には、シェア世界一のセルフレジで培われたノウハウをベースとしており、業務端末としての操作性も一層向上しています。この結果、店員の教育を簡素化、短時間化することも可能になります。
「RES MeXホスト（POS周辺機器コントロール側）」と、「RES MeXクライアント（タブレット端末側）」は1対nで構成できます。このため、POS周辺機器の資産の有効活用、コスト削減、また、売り場環境、催事など、さまざまな活用シーンに応じて柔軟に機器を構成、配置することができます。
店舗の種類や規模によって、様々なシステム構成が可能です。以下は、いくつかの例です。
（１）「RES MeXホスト」と「RES MeXクライアント」との1対nの構成
売り場にはRES MeXクライアントのタブレット端末、Bluetoothスキャナーのモバイル環境のみを設置します。
RES MeXホストの端末コントロール機能によって、POS周辺機器であるレシートプリンタや自動釣銭機などが制御され、複数のRES MeXクライアント（タブレット端末側）でこれらの機器を共有します。
RES MeXクライアントでは、POS業務のみならずバックオフィス業務や在庫照会、その他の関連業務も実施することが可能です。お客様と1対1で接客を行うコンサルティングスタイルの販売形態や取引数の少ない店舗に適しています。
（２）「RES MeXクライアント」と定置型POSの併用
店舗にはRES MeXクライアントのタブレット端末と定置型POS端末を併設します。定置型POS及びタブレット端末で全く同じ操作を行うことが可能です。スピードを求められる取引、多明細取引については、POSの大型タッチディスプレイによって操作性、生産性を向上させることが可能です。さらに、カスタマーディプレイの設置によって従来のPOSと同様にお客様向けの情報も表示することができます。取引数や購買点数が多い店舗に適しています。
（３）「RES MeXクライアント」のみの構成
店舗にはRES MeXクライアントのタブレット端末とレシートプリンタのみを設置し、ネットワーク先にある本部やデータセンターに設置されたエンタープライスサーバーにRES MeXホストを配置します。催事等の臨時のイベント環境、取引点数、取引数が少ない小規模環境に適しています。
