日本NCR株式会社(本社:東京都中央区、代表取締役社長兼CEO:諸星俊男、以下日本NCR)は、日本NCRの提供するセルフレジSelfServ 90(セルフサーブ 90)が、株式会社良品計画(本社:東京都豊島区、代表取締役社長:金井政明、以下 良品計画)に、導入されることを発表しました。日本NCRとしては、食品販売店以外で初めてのセルフレジ採用となります。2015年2月より無印良品 有楽町店に試験導入され、将来的には、駅ビルなどの混雑する都心店やその他の路面店舗へ拡大する予定です。
無印良品の店舗では、食品、雑貨から大型の家具まで多種多様な製品を取り扱うことから、混雑時にはレジ待ちの長い行列ができる傾向にあり、時間帯によって20人以上のレジ待ちの列ができ、数点のみ購入するお客様が購入せずに帰られてしまうこともありました。この不満を解消するために、今回のセルフレジの導入にいたりました。また、この最新型のセルフレジは、クレジットカード、交通系電子マネー、MUJIショッピングポイントに対応しており、スーパーマーケットなどに設置されているセルフレジに比べコンパクトなため、限られたスペースでも設置することが可能です。さらに、スタッフのレジ業務が効率化され、他のお客様サービスの充実も可能になります。
