Harp's Food Stores Selects NCR Point of Sale Checkout Technology for New and Existing Stores

NCR solutions offer value and performance for Midwest grocery chain

DULUTH, Ga. – NCR Corporation (NYSE: NCR) announced that the company’s point of sale (POS) terminals will now be the preferred checkout technology at Springdale, Ark.-based Harp’s Food Stores, an employee-owned company which operates grocery stores in Arkansas, Missouri and Oklahoma. The NCR RealPOS™ 60 checkout technology will be used in all new Harp’s stores and will replace checkout equipment at 10 existing Harp’s stores.

Harp’s chose the NCR RealPOS 60 terminal due to its high serviceability, compact size and price-to-performance ratio. A key feature, the ability of the terminal to be mounted to a wall, was also a selling point for Harp’s.

“By allowing us to mount the terminal to the wall of our cashier stations, we are able to ensure the device is up and away from spills and this wall mounting allows us to maximize the use of space in this area,” said Harp’s Director of Store Systems Mark Pierce. “Overall the NCR RealPOS™ 60 terminals provide an outstanding blend of performance and value.”

NCR RealPOS™ 60 has been pre-integrated and tested with the grocery’s existing point-of-sale software, NCR Advanced Checkout Solution.

In addition to the POS terminals, NCR will supply Harp’s stores with the NCR RealPOS DynaKey™, NCR RealPOS Cordless Handheld Imager and the NCR RealPOS Multifunction Printer.

The NCR RealPOS DynaKey allows cashiers to focus on customer interaction while minimizing mistakes that can cost time and lower customer satisfaction. Much like an ATM, the NCR RealPOS DynaKey features eight dynamic keys that guide the cashier through the application, and with a tactile keypad and menu keys speed and accuracy are greatly increased.

The NCR RealPOS Cordless Handheld Imager has proven hugely popular among stores across the country. The cordless device allows cashiers to easily and quickly scan large, bulky or heavy items on the cashier belt or left in the shopping cart.
