NCR Technology Supports Bed Bath & Beyond In-Store Experience
ATLANTA – March 2, 2022 – As Bed Bath & Beyond® strengthens its authority in the home category, it is providing customers with a modernized shopping experience that includes an improved store layout, inspiring collection of national and Owned Brands, and in-store features on its mobile apps. The retailer is also investing in technologies and turned to the provider of enterprise technology and world’s largest self-checkout provider, NCR Corporation (NYSE: NCR), to help support its store transformation.
Following a successful pilot in the home retailer’s remodeled New York City flagship Bed Bath & Beyond, NCR self-checkout solutions will expand to select Bed Bath & Beyond locations nationwide. NCR will enable Bed Bath & Beyond to offer self-service capabilities to its customers, providing additional options for a fast and convenient shopping experience.
“By incorporating cloud-enabled SCO into its checkout strategy, Bed Bath & Beyond is creating a modern shopping experience that streamlines the trip for customers while simultaneously allowing staff to become more proactive, empowered hosts,” said David Wilkinson, president and general manager, NCR Retail. “Ultimately, it’s clear that shoppers today crave convenience and options, and with this technology Bed Bath & Beyond will be able to deliver both.”
NCR’s SCO solutions also provide operational benefits like faster checkouts and advanced capabilities on one powerful platform, including computer vision and shrink prevention solutions. With the addition of SCO, customers can checkout based on their preference, resulting in less friction, wait and frustration.
John Hartmann, Chief Operating Officer at Bed Bath & Beyond Inc. and President of buybuy BABY, said, “As part of our commitment to be a digital-first, omni-always retailer, we are making it easier and more convenient than ever to shop at Bed Bath & Beyond. NCR has been an incredible partner along this journey and its self-checkout solution brings an important capability to our stores. We look forward to the continued rollout of self-checkout as part of our transformation strategy that includes technology investments to improve the customer experience."
