It’s January, which means it’s time to kick off the year with NRF. In a few days, retailers from around the world will gather in New York City to discuss industry trends, explore emerging technology and make connections.

If you're planning to attend, it’s important to go in with a plan; with dozens of sessions, hundreds of exhibitors and representatives from thousands of brands from over 100 countries, there’s no way that you can see, hear or experience everything. A little bit of preparation can go a long way to helping you get the most out of the show.

Emerging trends

This year, you’re certain to see a focus on future-proofing retail technology, as well as solutions that help redefine the customer experience.

  • Navigating AI: As in recent years, AI and machine learning are still prominent topics; retailers are curious about how AI continues to change and shape the market, how they can use AI for increased data insights and how generative AI is shaping corporate marketing practices, among other things.
  • Creating customer-centric experiences: As consumer behaviors change, retailers want to know how to stay abreast of shifting demands, whether that’s offering new ordering and payment methods, shifting business practices to favor sustainability or differentiating through customer experiences. Marketing is also a key topic for retailers, with a focus on better communicating a brand’s purpose and creating content that actually translates into sales.
  • Optimizing staffing practices: Labor and talent are also top of mind for retailers, who seek to balance cost-consciousness with excellent customer experiences. At NRF, expect to hear sessions on employee retention and development, as well as topics on the way that new advancements in technology are reshaping retail labor practices and needs.

Learn how to own the experience through platform-driven growth, run brick-and-mortar stores like digital channels, streamline operational efficiency and evolve for the future of commerce. While you’re there, you can also grab a cup of coffee via our Aloha Kiosk powered by GRUBBRR and connect with a member of our team. To optimize your show scheduling, you can schedule time for a conversation or a demo in advance.

And, if you can’t make it to NRF this year but want to learn more about NCR Voyix’s full suite of retail solutions, schedule a call with our team.

How retailers should split workloads between cloud and edge for real-time store operations
What should run in the cloud, and what should run in the store? Match each workload to the environment it was built for. Real-time work belongs at the edge. That means POS transactions, shrink detection, video recognition and in-store promotions. These process locally and keep running even when connectivity drops. Use the cloud for the rest: offline data analysis, AI model training, big-data processing and eCommerce. So the answer is not “Cloud Out” or “Edge In.” It is both, built as one hybrid architecture.
